What is the point of needling?

COMCIT - Cryo Oxygen Microneedling Collagen Induction TherapyCOMCIT is:  Cryo Oxygen Microchannelling Collagen Induction Therapy

As more people search for non-invasive skin treatments to stay looking younger for longer, it’s no surprise that collagen facials are kicking up a storm both sides of the Atlantic.

Collagen facials most often involve a process called dermal rollering – also known as micro needling, skin needling or skin rollering. This is the process of using tiny needles to stimulate a healing process in the skin, resulting in the formation of new collagen from within. No collagen is injected into your face!

The results are unbelievable. While a minimum of 6 treatments is required, depending on your level of skin rejuvenation, you will start to see the best results after the third treatment, but will see a noticeable difference after the first.

What does a collagen facial involve exactly?

Despite the name, micro-needling treatments are pain-free. Tiny needles will penetrate the epidermis to create no more than a light prickling sensation, which you wouldn’t feel, due to your skin being prepared with cryo oxygen to cool and oxygenate your skin.

Depending on where you are within your facial treatment plan, the needles used will range from a minuscule 0.25mm to just 0.75mm. These needles are the right length to make contact with the papillary layer of the skin (the layer where the dermis feeds the epidermis, and where all your skin cells are made).

Who should have a collagen facial?

The good news is that this treatment is suitable for all skin types!

And the benefits are huge. Effects can include brightening and lightening the skin and minimising crows’ feet and lines around the eyes, as well as firming and tightening your jowl area and plumping of the nasolabial folds (the creases between your mouth and nose!). In addition this can help with acne scars, rosacea and PH balance.

As well as pricking your skin under scrupulously clean conditions, high-grade  ingredients such as vitamin C, hyaluronic acid and plant stem cells are fed into your skin during the process to further help the rejuvenation process.

So, if you’re looking for a fresh new approach to skin renewal, a course of collagen facials could be a great place to start.
